When God Answered the Question I Didn't Know How to Ask

I had been in my head a lot lately — searching and turning things over. I knew enough about myself to know I was made to love, help, and serve others. I had felt drawn to nursing, to psychology, to ideas that stirred something in me and then quietly faded — not because I was lost, but because none of them were quite the shape of what God was building in me. I was carrying confusion about my life's purpose long enough that I finally needed clarity.

Raw Experience

I had been thinking about different ways to make a difference — ways that would not just sustain me but sustain others too. That is when the vision of a community agriculture farm came. This farm will have a presence that would nourish us in ways that go far beyond a meal — filling our bodies, minds, spirits, and the quiet hunger for purpose that so many of us carry without a name for it.

I wanted to pull us back together the way communities used to be — before everyone got busy, before neighbors stopped knowing each other's names, before we forgot that we were supposed to be each other's keepers. The time when nobody went hungry if a neighbor had food. When we looked out for one another without being asked. When the community actually lived up to the definition of community. I could feel the disconnection but did not yet know how to fix it.

While reading, the phrase lasting bridges caught my attention and stayed with me. I went searching for what it meant and God met me in Isaiah 58:12 — a verse about repairing the breach and restoring paths for people to dwell in.

Confirmation! Confirmation! Confirmation!

This was not a coincidence. This was God speaking directly into this — and the direction I had been searching for suddenly became clear!

The vegetation is the path for growing healthy connections between the land and us. The community itself — the coming together, the showing up, the I see you and I have something for you — is the path for growing healthy connections between one another.

It felt like one piece locking into place — the direction I had been searching for suddenly had a compass. Me and my God finally speaking the same language at the same time. For the first time I was not wandering alone hoping this would be the one — God and I were in agreement and that divine alignment felt so good.

I placed it all in His hands — not because I had a plan, but because I knew He would order my steps to see it through. Every attempt before this had come and gone. This one feels different.

Internal Alignment

There is something that happens when purpose stops being a feeling and starts taking shape — when what was once still begins to move.

I had been searching for ways to live in alignment with what God placed inside me — not just to survive, not just to earn, but to build something rooted and still standing that would still be serving people long after the moment that started it had passed.

What I discovered was not just confirmation of a farm. It was confirmation of a way of being. God does not just call us to do good work — He calls us to restore what was broken. To raise up foundations that will hold the weight of generations we will never even meet.

The breach He speaks of is real. We feel it every day in our communities — in the disconnection, in the hunger, in the loneliness of people living side by side without truly seeing each other. The restoration He calls for is just as real — rooted and built one relationship, one harvest, one genuine act of community at a time.

What I thought was simply something I wanted turned out to be an assignment God had already written.

Scripture on My Heart

"And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in." — Isaiah 58:12 KJV

Turning Point

This verse confirmed something I had been feeling but could not yet say — community doesn't happen with separation but connection.

This is the day I got the answer to what building lasting bridges really means — and a compass for moving in the direction of fulfilling my life's purpose.

Pause & Reflect

If this mirrors something in your life, you don't have to name it right now. Just allow yourself to sit with the truth of it…

…and remember that you were created as a unique being for a purpose only you can fulfill. Give yourself grace as you embrace the one of a kind person He specifically created you to be.

— Thank you Jesus —

I Love you, Lord!

I Love me!
